Alberto Giacometti

Alberto Giacometti, 'Tete Noir', 1960
“Giacometti has tremendous intensity and enthusiasm when he is working. He works so hard, with tremendous spontaneity and fluidity, to grasp something. He cannot have it tomorrow; he wants to have it today. And the next day, he looks at his work, and he is completely disappointed. He begins again, on the same canvas, over and over until someone takes it away from him, and only then it is complete. I admire his passion and intensity, whether he is painting or sculpting.”
